I repair electronics for a living, I know my numbers.

you can always ask those that have a DS with a blown fuse (that is the 3% group).

that means if you ain't got a problem charging while playing your in the 97%. I don't see why you guys get offended that there IS a small number that have problems.

Just because you say 3% of electronics burn out doesn't mean that 3% of all Nintendo DSes burn out. And it certainly doesn't mean 3% of DSes burn out while playing and charging either. I'm not offended, I'm just mystified as to why you're finding such a correlation and insist on its pertinence to this discussion. In other words...source, please.

Nintendo itself tells you that playing while charging is safe. The only drawback is the charging sequence will take more time to complete.

The only thing you have to refer is the manual inside the NDS box, and you'll be okay. If it's Nintendo speaking, who can counter?

Quick question, suppose your battery is like dead, can you still play continously if your AC adapter is always plugged. Meaning that, when the battery FINALLY dies, you can keep playing your DS w/o replacement.

Nintendo uses 3% as the tolerable failure rate
None of these links backup that statement. Yeah, we all know the 360 has problems, but a statistic about the Wii isn't something on which to base a statistic about the DS. You have more moving parts (optical drive, fan), and heat to worry about.

QUOTE(how_do_i_do_that @ Aug 4 2008, 01:59 PM) this failure rate also includes things as the broken hinge, etc too.
You've said it right there - the failure rate isn't specific to charging while playing, nor does it point at the practice as a prime cause of failure in the handheld.

Rofl...then I guess we're done here, random internet guy.
Pretty much...

In summary, playing your DS while charging does no harm.

In fact it may do more good than harm, as Li-Ion batteries last longer if they are not drained.
