Gaming Platformer RPGs?

I dont mean like in tales of eternia where just the battling is side scroller. i'm looking for something like the (newer)castlevania series, or perhaps maplestoryish? its really not a very common genre, but its one that i enjoy. (yes, ive played through the DS ones, and ive tried dracula x chronicles, but the "no level up, just run around with a whip" games are a bit too hardcore for me =p)



any ideas?

emulate the gba games of Summon Knight Swordcraft Story 1 and 2, that should be what you're looking for.
