Do you feel as though the image above correctly portrays the difference between a Pirate, and Thief? Or do you have your own explanation/opinion? Please do post it in the thread.

Image is right.
People who download games are pirates, doesn't matter if they buy the game in the end.

Always get those people who claim they aren't a pirate because they will buy the game, funny really.

Piracy isn't stealing, stealing is the act of taking something away from someone, if you had no plans to buy it in the first place, they haven't lost money.

Piracy is copying, not stealing.

I do something worse than piracy... I buy second-hand games.

I do this all the time. I rarely pirate games, because I know the money's gonna go to the devs and proper publishers. Well, at least if I order overseas, because Sweden adds so many fees (VAT+VERY HIGH Tax+the store takes fees+Sweden's publisher+NoE Germany+The Devs+The ACTUAL game = ~95 USD/game)
And for games that support causes, like the Humble Bundle, I tend to donate above the Linux average, because I like being nice.

Case in point, is walking into EB games and physically "shop-lifting" a game the same as downloading the game?

No.

You can't really say that they both do exactly the same damage, so calling both "theives" is a bit of a misnomer.

I believe it does. Any game I pirate, half the time doesn't get finished. If I really enjoy the game, I go out and buy it.

So in the end, yes, I'm a pirate, but not a thief.

The only reason for me to pirate is because I don't have the money. If I would have the money, I would surely buy it.

correct image.
How many people would buy a game if they like it anyway o.o
You already played the game if you downloaded it.

For me personally, I buy some games and download others. I dont download and buy the same game.

Image is correct... I'm a pirate cos I can't afford the games and when I do they're usually second-handed

And it doesn't matter whether or not you think thief is the right word... you can call it whatever you want but you're still hurting the industry...

And it's funny because it's the person downloading that is making their own copy.

truth be known, i'm a pirate.(self). i just don't get on here an make a big deal about it. all my games are not, i buy most, but with 7 screaming kids, you can figure out most things. an for the few that will say some thing about 7 kids, money an games.. they are all twins, but my 7yr. all boys an one girl. some say it is a curse, some say it's a blessing. just depends on how my day goes it's both for me.The worse part is none of my kids "know" i download, don't want them to. my 17yr old boys would go overboard.
so thats 25+ *7. an that is used at gamestop an new ones run close to 50-60.. some time you do what you need to do to make the kids happy.

I'm a bit of a strange pirate...

I buy the game first to see how it plays with the real cartridge and everything.

If it's great then I keep it, knowing that the developers have the money from when I first bought it.

If it's ok, then I either return it or sell it on ebay or something. And put the game on my flashcard with the other okayish games.

If it's crap then I either return it or sell it on ebay or something.

I don't agree with the first You are a pirate (Did you enjoy it? --> No)

It says if the game sucked you wouldn't have bought it so there was no lost sale. But that's not true because you would have to buy it to find out it sucked. And don't say you could've read a review and all because reviews are someone else's opinions. You might like something that's been trashed by a critic.

I love having a library of games but ONLY buy second hand games unless they're amazingly cheap (due to being old) or there's an amazing pre-order bonus (like Gold Bullion).

Which means if you skip that first bit of the "worst" box i'm still a Thief despite paying for my games....

To even start the line, you must have pirated a game. It already says "Pirate a game" at the beginning.
So the first 'You are a pirate[/i'] means that you've pirated a game, didn't enjoy it and don't play it. So you could almost say you didn't do anything wrong, because you've pirated a game you didn't use.

Edited: Just some little stuff.
