Hacking PimpMyWii how powerful is this app?

Hi,

I recently been written on a tutorial to install/softmod Wii .
During this i came upon a youtube video displaying an app: PimpMyWii and how it can 'perform this test and fix problems' .

I noticed that PimpMyWii updated my d2x .. just like that. Making this part of tutorial obsolete or not?

5. Play Newer Wii Games (install MMM and d2x)

(part 1 - download MMM and d2x to SD card)

A. Download and install ModMii v6.2.3 or higher on your PC from http://modmii.zzl.org/home.html - Press English Flag . Install ModMii into C:\ModMii\

(install d2x)
B. Open C:\ModMii\ModMii.exe (not ModMiiSkin!)
C. From ModMii's Main Menu, enter "4", then "beta" then "7"
D. Type "24956" then "25057" to select cIOS249[56]-d2x-v6-final and cIOS50[57]-d2x-v6-final (* next to selected file)
E. Type "d" then "y"
To exit ModMii after download sequence type "e"

PS: We pick d2x files with 249 base 56, 250 base 57, as according to d2x's wiki thats the recommended configuation ( http://code.google.com/p/d2x-cios/wiki/How_To_Install )

(install MMM)
F. Re-open C:\ModMii\ModMii.exe (not ModMiiSkin!)
G. From ModMii's Main Menu, enter "2", then "mmm" then "d" then "y"
To exit ModMii after download sequence type "e"

Unplug SD-card from Wii and put into Computer

H. Open C:\ModMii\COPY_TO_SD\
I. Put folder 'apps' and 'WAD' into sd:\
J. Re-plug SD-card into Wii

(part 2 - install d2x to Wii)

A. Start Wii
B. Open Homebrew Channel
C. Load MMM (Multi Mod Manager)
D. Press A
E. Press downarrow to Wad Manager
F. Press A
G. Install ONLY the two d2x files by pressing A on each one
H. Press Home on Wii Remote two times
I. Done!

. Im also wondering how powerful this PimpMyWii is? Can you use it directly after getting the Hombrew Channel , @ Letterbomb ... or no?

Don't use PimpMyWii. It is a garbage apps. A lot of people have bricked their Wii because of this apps.

I say whatever works works. Hacking wii is kind of a thing of the past (a glorious one in my opinion). Modmii has had tremendous work put into it and the method suggested works. So if you have a better one great.

i used PMW just recently.. wow.. so many files it chucked throught.. it did install d2x-v10-beta53 so i guess im lucky.. hmm ,
wont use it again i guess.

SysCheck is nothing like PimpMyWii, they are totally different apps (apples and oranges), SysCheck just read your IOS, cIOS, MIOS, boot0, System Menu status and give you a report.

well, i just avoid pimpmywii from any tutos on wiii .. i guess,

I would recomend you Wii Mod Lite instead MMM, although MMM makes a perfect work, Wii Mod Lite has HDD file browsing support, latest version has Wii U for vWii support too
