Gaming Physical game box with no game inside

Yeah, I understand, I was asking why wouldn't you want it immediatly and also avoid going to the store.
Actually, I like boxes a little, but they take space, and space is precious... So, not sure if I really like them or not.

Because I like and want the boxes... I have plenty of space for the boxes, so that definitely is not an issue. And if they cost no different than just the straight up digital version without the box, then I see no reason why I shouldn't get the box with the digital download code. That sounds ideal to me.

I prefer my cartridges I feel then I can see my money I have spent on! downloading a title just doesn't feel worthy enough for me! that way, your not really owning it, then are you, it goes from Nintendo's site to Nintendo's console, which then goes on to whoever you sell it onto next. Owning the actual physical side of the game you are actually seeing something for your money! Console manufactures are trying to say keeping there games digital is an easier method for the end user, of course that's way out from the truth, the truth is, its way more cost effective for them and they are making more money!

i think they should do like money cards like steam, itunes and etc you can find theese on stores.. you buy the card and scratch it off to get the code...
i mean, why dafuq you buy an empty box? it's just misleading... a bunch of uncles and grandmas\grandpas get the game for the kid and then will go back to the store to complain about it...
plus.. empty boxes in an era we are all trying to be eco friendly and shit? it's just a waste in general...
however if they sell like a toy like an amiboo, posters and usable shit the person wants, like special editions or something along with the game code, sure.. you can get the special download edition which comes with a shirt, a keychain etc.. and be happy about it.. but an empty box with no other purpose than display it? fuck no...

This completely defeats the purpose, it needs the cartridge. I want to actually own the game. Esp. considering you can just print these and make your own for cheap if you really just want an empty box and art.

Do you know what's the absolute worst? When a physical copy should be bundled with the cartridge/discs and then that's left out due to some mistake. At least for digital codes you know what you're getting.

PS: The problem with buying digital in the Switch anyway is that the storage space is very limited and expensive. If it were the XB1 where you have 2GB of space for a couple bucks I will buy all digital... but that is what I already do.

In what way is storage expensive? I can buy a genuine 64 gb micro sd card for the same price as a meal from McDonald's here in Scotland and I don't hear anyone complaining about McDonald's being expensive lol.

As a collector I moved to handheld systems only, due to the storage factor. Now I love buying the physical copies of games. They seem to always trend up in value. When I found out my deceased Father's iTunes account could not be legally transferred to me because it was considered a lifetime lease I was pissed. So I keep his email accounts active and ripped most of his library to have a backup.

I don't know what prices are like in Scotland, but in the US a 64gb sd card is still around $20 and a meal at McDonald's can be under $5. That's quite a difference, so I don't think your analogy really works. Besides, food is a necessity, and gaming is a luxury.

Also, game sizes are getting bigger. Most big name games will probably range between 5~10GB, some being even larger than that. Suppose a game takes up 1/4th of a 64GB sd card, you're essentially spending an extra $5 on that game if you buy it digitally, and that's assuming you do grab a 64GB sd card for a low price.

Of course, you can always uninstall games that you don't play anymore to clear up space without buying more sd cards... But then you have to redownload if you want to play again, which can take a while. Physical copies avoid these problems altogether*. (Well, DLC and update patches still have to be downloaded to hard drive...)

Holly shit sd cards are dear in America then and McDonald's are cheap lol here it costs for a 64 gb sd card 6 pounds and McDonald's is 5.50 pounds a whole 50 pence cheaper the minimum wage here is 7.40 pounds an hour so less than one hours work gets an sd card lol

Sure, for a counterfeit one. There is no way in heck that you can get a 64GB MicroSD for $5 or $6 dollars. Actually £6 is actually $7.73 and even then is still not possible at that price.
