throbbing-gristle.com has announced that Peter Christopherson passed away “peacefully in his sleep” at his home in Bankok. Peter was part of pioneering industrial band Throbbing Gristle, who emerged in 1975 who which were one of the first bands to discover industrial music.  When that group initially broke up in 1981, he briefly joined bandmate Genesis P-Orridge in Psychic TV before forming the highly prolific Coil. Among other things, Peter was also well known as a video director, working with artists ranging from Front 242 to Hanson. Most recently, he was part of the re-united Throbbing Gristle. The group was forced to rebrand themselves as “X- TG” for a series of concerts without Genesis, who mid tour said he was returning home to NY (not quitting the band.) Several recordings X-TG here made available on their website. Peter also had an album in the works for his solo project The Threshold HouseBoys Choir.[/p]

Because people listen now a days listen to shitty Pop music and never listen to music that where lyrics and songs are written in emotion and not for money.

If you listened to Coil, TG, NIN. You would understand the importance of industrial music.

a little closed minded don't you think? there are tons of 'pop' songs with emotion put into it. ever heard anything by christina perri? she puts SO much emotion into her songs.

HOWEVER i do agree with you that there are so many songs these days that are made just for money and not for love of music, but it is hardly limited to industrial music (ever listen to some post rock?) which what you are saying makes it seem like you think that. i dont really care for industrial music as a whole.. but i do like ministry. while i do not know who christopherson was or any band he was in, it is always sad to see a musician pass away.

I listen to NIN and several other industrial bands but Ive never heard of him so dont give crap about htings you dont know because some people, like me, dont care about the person behind the music but about the music itself

On-topic: Sucks he died, lets hope that if hes that revolutionary that others will come to do the same thing he did
