Hacking patching pokemon for 3 in 1?

i heard the you need to patch pokemon fire red/ leafgreen/emerald/ruby/saphire to make it to save? since im getting my 3 in 1 in a few days what patch do i need to use to make it work? thanks also do i need to download something to boot up the games?

Rest I did not try yet.
Im using the newest batch 3-1.
