"IF INSTALLING LINUX TO USB HARD DRIVE:
STEP 1: COMPLETE VFLASH AND PETITBOOT INSTALLATION
(PS3 Hard Drive WILL NOT be Formatted)
Run OtherOS Prep Tool
Press START+SELECT.. You're done!
(PS3 will beep when it starts and again when it finishes)
(System will auto reboot)
Run Boot OtherOS++ to launch Petitboot"

Is that actually that easy!? Does something miss in this guide?

OG text was from rebug.me

Its been a long time since i messed with otheros++ but that sounds right from what I remember and rebugs firmwares were always designed around bringing back otheros after it was removed by sony with a firmware update so its always been easy with there cfw

And im sure you know that you still need to install a version of linux for ps3
