I currently have no interest in porting osu. I started on a Taiko clone for 3ds long ago but after being half-finished I got discouraged by the lack of documentation on sound with 3ds homebrew so I just stopped.

I'm a big fan mania-like games (VSRGs) so I've been thinking about it, but I have no idea which buttons to use. Every combination just feels awkward.

There's actually a NDS game called "Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!", which is pretty much just like Osu! for the pc. But I agree, we should have a homebrew version of it for the 3DS

It's the inspiration for Osu itself. If a sequel is ever made we could just play that.

It would be cool!, but there's 1 problem!

I'm really bad at Osu!, my kids even get the top 10 sometimes, but i really s** at Osu!
(And it eats touchpen tips on there drawing tablet, reminds m!e to buy some new ones!)
