Original Xbox emulation is getting somewhat decent

If you look a good amount of games are working. I am so happy I got Tao Feng Fist of the Lotus and ToeJam & Earl III to work they never worked on my 360 RGH and they were only two games I kept an original Xbox for. It's a bit difficult to setup though I can help if someone asks.

I also got Jet Set Radio Future to work on CXBX which my favorite original Xbox game.

I don't know if I would say I like it, it's more like my obsessive compulsiveness to collect games. And I did like the first two.

I don't know how well you will do introducing the kids to them today, and they were probably the pinnacle of 90's 'tude games, but the first two quite justifiably have their fans. The third was then one of the lesser but never the less casualties of the jump to 3d.

Anyway back on topic.
Glad to see original xbox emulation doing something. There is a lot to the original xbox that few seem to know.
Hopefully Gun Valkyrie works well at some point in the not too distant (granted I have not even looked to see if someone tested it) as some cheats and savestates could do well for that one.

There's several xbox emulators but I'm mainly only familiar with xemu and cxbx. I think it can somewhat play on cxbx but you can't finish the game.

From what I remember but it's been a long time since I first set it up but cxbx is very easy to get up and running without requiring bios while xemu not only requires very specific bios but it's very picky about the format of the games it requires ISOs that are converted from folder format yourself you can't use redumps you might find.

It got so bad, that i actually bought 2 original Xboxs hahahahahah but now they need some work since I tinkered with em and left em :L

PAL version works in Xemu, but it is difficult to find that version on the internet and I'm not allowed to help you by gbatemp rules. Only ISOs work in xemu and you also can't use a redump ISO you need to find a folder format then convert it to ISO using either xDVDMulleter or Qwix. Xemu doesn't have a lot of settings once you get it running but you need several things to get it running. You could try this

Yeah I still have both the Originals and they are both soft modded haha. One works but the other I need to take the capacitor out.

Oh thank you for the advice and it's okay, I actually have most of the real games for most consoles and have them pre backed up anyway hahaha and I live in NZ so my version should have been PAL. I prefer to have both options to emulate or play on the original hardware I'll check the vid out and see if I can get it working this time around haha

You will need a beefy computer or no chance of it working.

I'm not 100% sure, maybe. All you can do is try. I have a 1650 i5-9300H with 16gb of ram. I can play any PC game or emulate even PS3 or Switch.

According to the FAQ it sounds like you'll probably be fine I would guess.

Are there system requirements?
There are not strict requirements; most relatively modern systems should be able to run xemu. xemu runs on all major operating systems.

Oh yeah, well the 1070 is alooot better than the 1650. Cpu is slightly more complicated since mine doesn't have Hyperthreading but runs at a far higher clock speed. I'll have to see.
Yeah I have 16gb ram aswell but it's only 3000MHz D; I can emulate PS3 and Switch at higher resolutions and frames than the consoles allow though so I think I should be good

Oh you're right, I just thought the higher the number the better, shows what I know. Yeah you'll be good. I thought you said 8 gb of ram that's what I wasn't 100% sure.

The newer G/CPUs generally run on a faster/newer more efficient chipsets so it makes sense that they would be better but nothing beats the old legends haha that's why they still cost a pretty penny over the newer counterparts aside from RTX and AMD 6000 series which are like double the price and performance of the older cards. CPU barely ever has any effect except for with things like emulation, virtualization and multi tasking. Maybe graphic design and stuff also I'm not too sure. Compiling and exporting an things like that mainly use the CPU aswell if they can

Somehow I missed your post didn't get a notification anyway the games that say they work on the compatibility list, of the ones I've tried which is a few dozen all seem to work fine. But just as the compatibility list says there's still almost half the games that don't work. So I would just go by the list but the ones that are supposed to work seem to work I haven't tested all of them obviously.

You may already know this but xemu only takes Isos and you can't use redump Isos for some reason you have to convert folder format to Iso with xDVDMulleter or Qwix. Version 0.5 came out this year and it's a lot better emulator than it used to be including having sound.

Only options are 1x or 2x although I may have seen a version that can go higher, I can't remember.
