I'm very much out of the loop on 3ds stuff and just learned about open_agb_firm. I saw there was a launcher, so you don't have to manually boot into the luma chainloader. However, it says you need to change to fastboo3ds for firm0. I found this link explaining how to do that. https://www.reddit.com/r/3dspiracy/comments/1cjlrox/boot_open_agb_firm_from_the_home_menu/
OpenFimInstaller hasn't been updated in 5 years, and i was wondering if there's any disadavantage to going back to that, given i'm on the lastest firmware & luma version.

So would it be worth it to install this, and save the manual restart or would there be some disadvantages?

You can install fastboot3ds with godmode9. But don't unless you have a flashcart with ntrboot capabilities. Just in case.
Openfirminstaller does the same, with added safeguards to avoid errors, such as a hash check.
If you opt for the gm9 route, here is the build for the latest trunk commit https://gbatemp.net/threads/fastboot3ds-latest-nightly.615543/

Thanks for the suggestions. So i could use Openfirminstaller like the reddit post mentioned like this, and I wouldn't be at risk of installing a firmware wrong, because OFI is proxying to those other firmwares safely somehow?

  1. Place OpenFirmInstaller.firm in the current firm folder.
  2. Create a folder called "ofi" in the root of the SD and place fastboot3ds.firm in it.
  3. Launch the installer.
  4. Done press home on startup to access the menu and enable "FCRAM Boot" so you can use shortcuts from the home menu.
I did end up installing it this way and it works really well!
