Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remaster Announced

Capcom has announced a modern remaster of their 2002 PS2 action game Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny.



The trailer states that the remaster will be available "in 2025" for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

Im pretty sure the only reason why we're getting Onimusha now (this and Way of the Sword) and not years ago, is the industry's recent fascination with Japanese culture & Samurais it's suddenly cool & trendy now given how successful Sekiro & Ghost of Tsushima were, we're now seeing other studios like Ubish!t jumping the bandwagon with AC Shadows and now this.. And im not complaining, when it comes to Onimusha atleast, as i really don't care for AC games unless Shadows proves me really wrong which i don't think gonna happen from what im seeing.

That's an interesting argument. As far as I'm concerned, if it gets Capcom to bring us more Onimusha, I can't complain.

Fortunately it's Capcom, so pretty sure they won't mess it up.

I admire your faith in the modern industry as well as modern Capcom. At the very least, we'll get a cost-efficient and easy way to play the second game in the series.

I'm holding out for a port of the third game, since I never played it. I feel silly for having skipped it, but there were a ton of big games that came out in the last leg of the PS2 era.

There's also Dawn of Dreams the 4th game, which i enjoyed very much back then..

Maybe unrelated but, do you still have your ps2? and do you have means to play backups?

Seriously, it bothers me how many times I have to be reminded that Dawn of Dreams exists. I think I'm so hung up on missing the third game that I keep forgetting the fourth. Plus, Dawn of Dreams was both late-gen PS2 and classic Capcom, making it doubly noteworthy in my mind.

That reminds me, there was a fighting game (Blade Warriors) and a Final Fantasy Tactics-styled GBA game (Tactics). My focus is on the mainline games, but here's hoping all these games get a second chance.
