Hacking old3ds - Arm9 / Data Abort

Hi everyone !

Last night i was dumping game cartridge with GodMode9 into CIA files so i can play them when i want and without the cartridge.
To do this i followed the tutorial on 3ds.hacks.guide/godmode9-usage
Everything was fine until i dumped pokemon ultra sun and install the cia file !

Since then, when i wan't to play the game (cia) or go to parameter / data management / nintendo 3ds and software the 3ds crash with the Arm9 error - Data Abort !

I don't know why this is happening, so if anybody can help me correct this or maybe just unistall the pokemon ultra sun cia it would be fine i guess ^^

Since your o3DSXL is able to boot to HOME Menu, yours is probably not a 3DS firmware softbrick. Don't consider CTRTransfer at this moment.

Check if your SD card is fake, faulty, or dying.

1. Copy everything off the SD card to a computer.
2. Quadruple reformat.
3. Full Write + Verify the empty card in H2testw. Do not skip.

Thanks for the reply, i read the thread "HELP ME" but i didn't find anything that looks like the same situation as me. But maybe i'm just blind lol

I bought my SD card like almost a week ago now, and everything was fine with it, so i'm copying everything on my computer and will start the quadrule reformat and do the full write.

I will update soon as it's done !

The similarity is that sergej also has a white o3DSXL model. Of the many possible luma errors, ARM9 errors are not as common compared to ARM11 errors but are often more serious. A typical cause for an ARM9 error is that the 3DS firmware is softbricked due to user negligence like deleting console unique nand file(s). Even more rare is seeing a 3DS function or boot to HOME Menu with an ARM9 error.

Oh ok, and i thought that ARM9 error was less serious than ARM11 !
Generally does the softbricked old3ds can be fix ? Or it end bad, like a bricked console ?

The quadruple format is finished and everything went good, no problems.
I'm doing the h2test right now, still 30minutes left before then ending of the process.

Are you capable of booting into FBI and uninstalling from there? Or does that also provide a crash?

To uninstall a title from FBI just select "Titles" and look for the cia file you installed. This is assuming "Titles" doesn't make it crash too.

I just lunched FBI and do what you told me, it worked perfectly with no crash or issues !

And i just went to parameter / data management / nintendo 3ds and software and the 3ds didn't crash with the Arm9 error - Data Abort !

EDIT : I've finished to check if everything is ok and working. There is no problem, no crash anymore. I will try to install a cia file from internet for pokemon ultra sun instead of dumping my cartridge.

Sorry, late reply. Had to catch up on sleep.

In the case of sergej's softbricked o3DSXL with ARM9 (svcBreak), fixing that requires one of the follow:

• SysNAND restore (if a pre-bricked, backed up *.bin image was created before)
• CTRTransfer (if the above image is not available and the brick is not too bad)
• CTRTransfer (Type D9) (if the above standard variety doesn't work)

Last but not least, the nuclear option.

• Lazarus3DS (When everything else fails. Avoid if possible. Will replace console unique files with a donor's. For super softbrick scenarios where everything has already been deleted.)

There are some old timers who might suggest the original Decrypt9 CTRTransfer, but this option should not be considered because of these reasons.

You may want to passively check your installed titles in the Nintendo 3DS folder for data corruption. See path (A).

If GodMode9 verifies the titles to be intact but the o3DSXL later goes back to crashing in Data Management, your SD card's title.db & import.db will need to be replaced. See path (B).
