Everything i'm may sound absolutely insane but i am positive there are at least two of you who remember this.

To be more specific the exploit consisted of putting the custom DNS in the DSi settings, booting up the game and entering the GTS
only for an animation to play that was as if you hosted a Pokemon and someone fulfilled that trade but there were a few versions of this

- one where you would receive a random Pokemon every time upon entering (kinda like gen 6 wonder trade but without having to give up a mon of your own)

- another that were for specific Pokemon as I recall someone hosted a DNS specifically for a shiny victini and an old YT video talking about it

- the last one is a bit weird i remember there was a website that was the same name as it's DNS, and if you looked up keywords on google along the lines of "How to get Reshiram in the GTS" you'd find that site within the first few results, the Pokemon of choice would be shiny and holding a master ball, and not nicknamed, then you'd just put the DNS onto your console, go into the GTS and somehow, some way it just gives it to you.

I did this on a laptop when i was younger and every future attempt when i wouldn't have access would consist of me searching the same keywords in google on my DSi's browser app, visiting the site, exiting and entering the DSi settings, putting in the DNS and it's all history from there.

My point in bringing this up is i have never seen anyone online or in person bring this up and while I'm sure there are people who do know about it i'd imagine it's not many, i really just want to know how this even worked, what happened to it and by chance if anyone remembers the exact DNS code for specifically the 3rd or 4th method, they both probably don't work anymore but i still think it's something interesting worth looking into.

My memory of other details that are potentially not mentioned is not there presumably because after BW i wasn't allowed to play video games because of poor school grades and didn't get back into playing Pokemon until the switch launched

I do remember this; there was a website where you could specify what pokemon you wanted, change your dns, and then when you went online it'd act as if it'd someone fulfilled your gts trade and would give you that pokemon. I'm not sure how it worked unless you ended up connecting to their servers instead of nintendo's, but if there's any more information about it i'd be keen to know.

i don't think you could specify through the website itself as I'm pretty sure you'd click the link on google (which was the DNS itself) and it would be a white background with the Pokemon you wanteds sprite, item, level, gender, etc. however i do think i know what method you're talking about, i haven't personally tried it but i found this while digging for answers.

The more i've looked into this topic the more i realize how many methods there were to this kind of thing back then as it's probably due to many not being able to get their hands on a R4 or Action Replay, as even Pokegen had a method for something like this.

I'm guessing much like Wiimfii or Kaeru they were all hosting temporary DNS servers for the sake of generating Pokemon and nothing more but I could be wrong there.

Yup I remember this exploit. I remember a website called PokeGTS that would let you upload a Pokegen file or choose from an event Pokemon, and then you connected to their DNS and received your Pokemon just as if you'd completed a trade.

It doesn't really have any use nowadays with the shutdown of Nintendo WFC and how easy it is to hack your 3DS and use PKSM, but I've always been curious as to how it worked.

PokeGTS wasn't the one i was referring to either but with that description, yeah it doesn't sound much different it just has a few extra steps.

I know it's all irrelevant now even PKSM aside, i also want to know how it worked it's just weird to me how it just....worked if that makes sense, like i suppose one could argue with something like Pokegen, you upload a file and it has a bot connect to a server and send a pokemon as you personally input it, kinda like those discord servers that have bot que's for genning pokemon for the modern games that requires a paste set from showdown

But none of this explains the third method i mentioned in the original post, and to extent it doesn't explained how the pokegen one either, the more i think about this the more weird and interesting it gets.
