5.1.1 yes make sure you turn off your wifi so you dont get banned.
you might want to look up how to use tinfoil to install nsp
and maybe how to use CDNSP

edit: there is also FreeshopNX but id suggest you stay away from it bc it could get you banned since it requires wifi

unlike the others this one includes the hbmenu.nro in the root of sd
instructions:
1. place files in the sd folder to the root of your sd card.
2. ReiNX.bin using tegraRCMgui
3. say thanks to rei
so using this i can install NSP's and use them on my swicth ?

Thanks! I'll start to read about them and maybe tomorrow if I have the time I can put it into practice. As I'm starting to see around other threads the first thing I will do is create a backup in case I mess up, so that should be a priority too. Thanks!

ReiNX works on all firmwares of Switches bought before July 2018 (the date when people reported buying patched Switch units).
In that case this is HUGE. Now I understand why people is going crazy with this. I've bought mine on launch day so there shouldn't be any problem then. Thank you!

Yup, be sure to come back to GBATemp to report your success ;)

Hello! By any chance could you make the noob friendly explanation ?

Or correct me if i understood it wrong:

1. Copy the files to the SD card (I can do this with a sd card reader i asume).
2. Run ReiNX.bin using tegraRCMgui
3. Put the jig in the console and start the switch with the sd back on (this is the step where i doubt).
4. If i managed to get the 3.zip file i am good to go right? i mean for testing purposes with the freenxshop.

I am totally a newb in this, but really looking forward to try. Mainly due to homebrew and backup playing.

Yup.

Wish that freeshop had A local install feature. Like install from SD card or something. Someone get on that.

Take it this only runs installed nsp games and not xci off sd?

Everything looks alright although I prefer using TegraRCMSmash over the GUI version. The only difference would be having to drag and drop ReiNX.bin onto TegraRCMSmash.exe but as long as you don't run into any issues, it should be fine.

step 1 is ok
step 2 is ok, but definitelly missing steps between 1 and 2, unless you already know how step 2 works.

what are you trying to do exactly ? I don't get the point when readding your steps 3 and 4.
