UPDATE 6/23/11:
Alright guys..
Thoughts.. comments? Things just got interesting..
NEW, NEW UPDATE 6/22/11:
So.. interesting news. I got the correct 2GB card now and have a dumper program that works ( tested dumping a cart, and the .nds rom runs )
HOWEVER...
When I got to put in the EVA Nitro cart, it doesn't recognize it as being in Slot-1.
This leads me to one conclusion:
The cart is only activated before the start-up of the system. I will test this out on a couple other carts further tomorrow on the "flicker" test cart.
It may very well be possible that this thing cannot be so easily dumped by flash carts and needs something a little more advanced.
I've managed to get another cart to work! Nitro EVA. It's not as old as the 2004 cart, it's a 2008 revision. From what I can tell it's about the same as the 2004 cart. When I get more time on it, I'll get some more details out of it.
Now, there's no worries about loosing it to the collectors guys!
I have been discussing with many people the options I have to recover these carts. One that I am particularly interested in exploring is PCB Prototyping services. This would allow me to have someone create an entirely new board for the chips on the cartridge for me to re-solder on. After this, I can put it in a DS replacement case and they will be as good as new.
Comments on this idea?
I AM NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS for this dump or for any other future projects. This is all for free and just for kicks.
