So i got a o2DS a wile ago (~1.5 months), and now, it seems like the home button just doesn't work (it wouldn't surprise me if it was part of the cost-cutting measures that got the o2DS to $80)

The reason I'm asking this on a hacking thread is because I'm wondering if there's a was via homebrew/CFW to make a button combo = the home button.

Do you have a NAND backup to test if it is a software bug?
If don't... then the microswitch may be damaged. And actually, it's not because a bad design or because it's cheaper. The o2DS is from the "old" family the most robust, so it could be only your unit.
And, yeah... I think you could try to use ButtonSwap3DS, but doesn't let you to create button combinations, only to remap the buttons of the console.
