Lokk at your drivecontroller first before you get the chip, as I said allready. If you don't you might get stuck with a chip that doesn't work.
And afaik you have to use the jp-tp-hack, but I'm not a 100% sure... just get an japanese tp backup...
And waste 4GB of my internet limit?
New tip: Don't be so cheap and get yourself an unlimited flatrate.

Well I'm paying $45 bucks for my internet as it is... (I think I get 60GB.)

I'll still try it. Do you have a guide for programming on YAOSM? I can't find one good guide!

Japan is NTSC-J, not NTSC-U like US Wii

But they both use ever NTSC 480i/480p.
