Hacking NTSC peripheries on PAL system

Am I right in thinking there is no way an 'NTSC' Balance Board will work on a PAL wii, no matter the modchips/updates etc.?

Such things often do work. But like with importing PC games, it's at your own risk since the documentation usually doesn't mention import play.

Have there ever been region-locked peripherals?
This is not a sarcastic question, I'm just asking, because I don't think I've ever seen one.

Well.. The Wii controller, Nunchuck and that works with any region wii.

Why would this not?

I dunno. It's just not syncing for me.

I press the power button and the sync button and all that, but it's just not connecting.

Anyone got any ideas?

I have the Japanese version of Wii-Fit, and it, and the balance board, work fine with my PAL Wii ... my Wii is un-modded, and I'm using FreeLoader.

Peripherals don't have region-coding.

Was there any special way u sync'd it? Just put in wii-fit and pressed the sync buttons, and it was all good?

Region locked peripherals? Not too often these days. Used to be more common.

The TurboGrafx has a different shaped controller port than its Japanese cousin. And NES controllers didn't work on the original Famicom model, as it had built-in controllers.
