I want to play gba games on something other than a keyboard and want to test the ntr with recording but when i launch it and connect, everything on the mGBA emulator runs at a snail's pace, at least half of the normal speed, if not slower.
is there any way to fix this?

NTR uses the extra horsepower that the N3DS packs when streaming. This means when a program that would force even the N3DS to the limit (in this case, a GBA emu), it will run significantly worse.
If you want to play them on your PC via your 3DS, i suggest you look into something like CTurt's 3DS Controller. https://github.com/CTurt/3DSController/releases
You could also try streaming a VC inject, but idk if that'd work, since GBA VC technically runs in DS mode.
