Hacking Nsp games firmware 7.0.1 on firmware 4.1.0

Hi,

I would like to know if i can play games which require firmware 6.xx or more on firmware 4.1.0. Just to modify a file on the nsp format?

NSC Builder allow to rebuild an NSP with lower keys. It could make some NSP requiring higher firmware due to their encryption work on lower firmware.
However, there is another problem: the official SDK level used for executable build. If the executable (NSO file, "exefs/main") has been built with a recent SDK, it can request functions which are not available on lower firmware (or with some different behavior). Therefore, the lower firmware will refuse to start the executable (to avoid a potential crash).

Yep, 4.1 is really low, it probably won't work with a very recent game...

You can always upgrade without burning fuses using choidujournx

You can use Switch Backup Manager to check key requirements for each of your NSP files. I'd recommend updating to 7.0.1 (without burning fuses) so you don't have to worry about compatibility issues. For some games, rebuilding games with lower keys won't even work, and you'll have to update sooner or later.
