Homebrew Question Nsp advice: Things i should know before dealing with it?

hey guys, its me again with the small questions. I'm running the newest atmosphere on switch 8.0 and I was wondering if theres anything I need to know about before trying to install nsp files? I haven't been having much luck with the current ones I got and im pretty lost.



DISCLAIMER: I'm not asking how to obtain them im just looking on what I need to know and what are the things I might be doing wrong.

For newest NSPs don't use "ignore firmware" before installing as it's now making more harm than helps on 7.0.0+.

Not sure how its harm than before, I mean I just installed MK11 with Goldleaf v05 USB installlation and I use ignore firmware stuff, nothing happened so far. I also installed these games that way; Katana Zero and Arcade Classic, should I don't use ignore firmware stuff in future?

it is kosmos v12.1 and atmosphere 8.6 I guess

Try to install latest updates. Games are still on old SDK.
For me using ignore firmware was causing errors at launch.

Dump your NAND and go offline while you have the NSP installed on your switch. It's the best way to not to get banned.

If you don't do that, then your kinda asking for it.

And yes you're screwed if you get banned, no way to go back.

Ultimate NSP Guide:
SX OS EmuNAND way (safest):
Dump your EmuNAND in the Payload from SX OS
now you can boot into it and disable all WiFi Connection (optional when you using Stealth mode)
thats it you can now use any NSP without ban risk and if its a bricker you ONLY lose your emunand and you can delete it and create a new one

Atmosphere/ReiNX way (risky if you dont know what you doing):
copy your SD Files as backup
Install Sigpatches (8.0.0 Sigpatches does not exist currently as i heard)
create a nand backup
delete every WiFi Connection (not optional on Atmosphere and ReiNX)
now use all your Nsps

To go online with nsps under Atmosphere and ReiNX: WARNING make sure the backups dont gets overwritten WARNING
Create a 2. NAND Backup
Now save your complete SD Card
then format it
Now go into Hekate and install the 1. NAND Backup
Go online and if you want your NSPs back then install the 2. NAND Backup and copy the SD Card files back

Whoa whoa whoa. Guy are you simply asking about what an NSP is and/or asking if there are any special prerequisites regarding an NSP? If so then simply run CFW after you've copied your NSP to you SD then install using Goldleaf, Tinfoil, etc. Make sure you search these forums or Google for 8.0.0 SIG patches. You need those in order to run the NSPs on 8.0.0. Even that is simply a drag am drop process onto your SD. I reccomend using USB install of you can. I've been making some serious use out it recently. @Ihavean11.03ds...

The thing is your so called "guide" doesn't mention anything in its namesake; how to use or install any .NSP files. Reading it implies they are installed via magic.

Your guide is more about brick protection than fallouts with .NSP files which is being largely overblown out of proportion. The only malicious .NSP files to ever be released were games that were leaked before release meaning if you stick to playing things when they are normally released, you will never run into problems. Also I'd imagine people who host warez now vet the stuff that gets uploaded to prevent accidents like pikabricker from happening again.

Actually, considering there are multiple .NSP installers, how you install them plays a big role. DZ (Tinfoil by blawar/vertigo for the less fortunate) prevents unverified .NCA files from being installed which is foolproof brick protection from installing any malicious .NSP files. No other title installer has such a feature but this means that DZ cannot install as many .NSP files as the other installers since there are other modified .NCA files which aren't brick code that people install. So if you want to both answer OP's question and give him a way to install .NSP files, he can use DZ but I think having a NAND backup is more foolproof as brick code can take on multiple forms. Does no one remember PozzNX?

For me it makes games with newest patches not starting. It's like npdm is corrupted.

Nope, Goldleaf and Tinfoil by Adubzz don't have such a feature. They will install any .NSP file you give them while Lithium, DZfoil, or even SX Installer are going to give you a warning or something to that effect.

Also thank you for mentioning what your guide does several posts after you already wrote it up and gave it a name. A better use would to go back and edit the title of your "guide".
