So I managed to install FreeMCBoot, and get that all set up.

Only problem is none of my games work. I've patched the .ISOs, burnt at 2.4x, yet nothing works.

What should I do? Any help?

More infos might be needed to be able to get help.
What kind of disks are you using?
What does the PS2 do exactly when the disk is in?

I'm using 4.7GB DVD+R's, 1-16x speed.

When I put the disc in the PS2, sometimes it reads it and boots into ESR and detects 'PS2 Disc in Tray', but upon clicking 'Launch CDVD', it just hangs on a black screen.

Is it possible to just use an external hard drive to load ISOs? It's a model 77002 Slim.

ESR does not have a perfect compatibility if you get to the flicked colors then you have done everything right.
I suggest you try another game. You can load the said game another way i cannot get into explaining right now. these are smb or usb loading with OPL or swapping with cogswap.

I managed to get a fair few games working. Only problem is the cutscenes lag.

I burnt the same game on 3 speeds. 2.4x was worst, 4x was best, and 8x was better than 2.4x, but worse than 4x.
