So i'm going to buy a 3DS XL soon, and i wanted to know what card plays 3DS Backups. I don't give a toss about NDS games. I know that SKY3DS plays it but the price is......

Only DS games. The best flashcart to play 3DS games is the Gateway, but it'll only work on firmwares 4.X-9.2. Sky3DS can play 3DS roms quite well, but it doesn't have a lot of features compared to Gateway. However, it can be used on the latest firmwares.

Both are DS MODE flashcarts.
Really your only options are Sky3DS and Gateway, if you're buying one on a more recent firmware. You could use an MT Card if you bought a 3DS on a really really early firmware version. Like, 4.x or something, I think.

Why MT card? Honestly I think I would rather pay the extra $10 for a card that gets updated at least once a year.

buy gateway if you want to explore alots of things. Buy sky3ds if you lazy as F and just care about 3ds game (like me)

If you have 9.2 or below get a gateway. It's cheaper and MUCH better.

If your interested in playing only 3ds games and have a 9.2 or below 3ds then try out custom firmware. it's free and you can play online!

YOU MEAN COMPLETLEY FREE?
The closest thing you'll get to "free" would be using Cubic Ninja and Pasta CFW for CIA and a Gateway or Sky for .3DS.

Pasta and hacked rxtools can play .CIA games, but not .3DS games, you need a cart for that. And you need to have cubic ninja and a firmware that is 9.2 or below to use them.

You guys not know that you can use pbt to install a cia manager and then use sig patched rxtools? You don't have to have a card or CN if your willing to put in some work.

You can install a cia manager without CN if you use the mset version of pasta.

sky3ds flashcart is expensive but really worthy it .

$80 for a flashcart or $80 for a 3ds that is gw/cfw compatible
