Tutorial NOOB friendly guide to Downgrading your 3DS (From FW <10.7!!)

Confirmed to work on 10.7.
There have been no hard bricks due to sysUpdater crashing (not any that were reported by people following this guide). But there have been a couple of soft bricks for n3ds users because of not system formatting, and a couple of hardbricks due to installing the wrong CIA files.

oh then im good, gonna be downgrading a 2ds and o3ds tomorrow for some friends, i always triple check my files and softbricks arent that bad currently.

oh one more question, does safesysupdater only validates md5 hashes? or does it check the region and the version of console too?

It checks all of that, and that is why it is awesome

Hello guys, this is my first reply in this forum.
I'm trying downgrade my o3DS XL, 10.5, and everytime I try the downgrade I got a black screen, with pink pixels on the bottom.
I checked the files with SafeSysUpdater and everything is OK, apparently. I tried several times today, I lost count!
Can anyone help me? Because now I don't know what to do...

Noob guide? What about the part on how you use OOTHax on 10.7 without another entry point? It should be noted in bold red that you cannot do this on 10.6/10.7 with OOTHax unless you ALREADY have an entry point. Guess I have to buy a PowerSaves device now. At least they aren't expensive.

Keep them. Homebrew is handy.

You will need 3DS (that can already run HBL) ...or a save key (if that's what they ware called??) ....in order to import the exploited save to the game cart.

See? It's confusing to anyone who has never used OOTHax before. You can't just have an OoT cart and you're all set, unless you are already able to access homebrew. It's misleading and not noob friendly because it doesn't explain a single thing about what is needed for OOTHax. What I was trying to say is it should be noted in the beginning of the tutorial, that OOTHax requires an entry point to begin with, and if you don't already have one - you need additional hardware or a buddy with homebrew access on their 3DS to copy the save to the cart for you. I bought a new N3DS XL and updated it to 10.7 because I read this guide saying you could downgrade it with OOTHax. I then went out and bought a copy of OoT thinking that was all I needed. Sure, I could have/should have done the research on my own and found out that wasn't the case. But a "noob" guide should most certainly have that information.

Thank you very much. Is the save key you're talking about the action replay power save? They're pretty cheap from what I can see. OOT seems to be relatively easy to get hold of as well and I think I have a friend with it. Cubic Ninja, not so easy it seems! I am new to the 3DS scene and have only previously installed rxtools on a sysnand 4.5. Am I correct in thinking that I can update emunand to 10.7 now?

If I am correct in thinking, you can pick up the Action Replay powersave for relatively cheap, here in the UK anyway.

Im currently running 10.6 on my N3DS thats never been modded. What are my options for downgrading to 9.2?

Ive been researching the matter for a few days as well as reading through every page of this thread but its a little overwhelming. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
