That's not very nice to say. They are not as overpriced as much as you think. I just prefer an operation system that works. Windows gives me too many headaches. I've used both Windows and Mac OS and I find Mac OS much easier to use. Plus Macs retain their value compared to Windows computers.

They work fine until filesystem permissions get screwed up or a myriad of other problems. There's nothing wrong with Windows or mac OS. And yeah, they are quite expensive for the exact same hardware sold with Windows on it. :P

In all fairness I've had NTFS permissions shit themselves a few times. Great fun.

Used to love my old bubble looking Mac years ago, although I ran Linux on that anyway. :D

Macos just confuses and scares me generally. Played with it a few times as a hackintosh to try get more used to it, which worked great outside of no SLI support.

Still not my cup of tea. Good for basic stuff, but harder to do more technical stuff. Leave it for the pros who need low latency sound and comercial app support etc. ;)

I still prefer my easy to use Mac and I play all sorts of demanding Steam games on it.

All I know is I've had way more problems on a Windows machine compared to Mac OS. Can't remember the last time my Mac crashed.

Anyway let's get back on topic.

@GerbilSoft can i ask a list of all the improvements of your mod?
Among other things:
  • A few widescreen improvements, including proper aspect ratio for the Nintendont wallpaper if the system widescreen setting is turned on.
  • Support for Hermes CISO format disc images, which allows for saving space without the random issues of shrunken images.
  • Discs don't have to be in a subdirectory anymore, e.g. you can have /games/Melee.gcm and it'll work. (2-disc still requires subdirectories.)
  • Improved disk cache in the loader that fixes the memory card issues seen on some systems.
  • The game list is now color coded based on file format.
  • Built-in MD5 verifier for 1:1 disc images. (Database based on GameTDB.)
  • The Settings menu now has a short description of some of the settings, which appears when the setting is selected. Also, settings that don't apply to the system you're using (e.g. Drive LED on Wii U) are grayed out.
Also, please disregard the anti-Mac elitist. He's only here to whine about things he doesn't like.

Is this comment directed at me? I am Not an elitist. I just prefer the more cost effective Windows machine over an overpriced niche piece of hardware. I've never fooled with Linux, so I won't say it's better or worse than Windows. I'm just in the minority of people who think Apple prices their stuff way too high, and don't allow much for customization and upgrades. But this is enough off topic. Sry for derailing the thread.

Hello all,

I wanted to ask about the future of BBA/modem emulation in Nintendont, because I've recently been working on patches for Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II. For instance, it's actually pretty easy to patch the game to make the Episode III lobby available:

card01.jpg

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to do this on the Wii right now, because modifying your ISO violates Devolution's copy protection check, even when you've already verified that you own the original game disc.

I realise that Nintendont may very well not have BBA/modem emulation yet because there are no developers with any interest in implementing it, but I thought I would post here on the offchance that BBA/modem emulation has just not been a priority so far, because everybody thought that Devolution was an adequate solution. Sadly, it isn't an option for those of us who like tinkering. I've got other patches in the works that Devolution won't support, either, but Nintendont would if it were possible to go online.

I see that the last BBA discussion was back in May, so hopefully there are still developers around who have knowledge of the GC's network adapters. It's a shame for patches to require Dolphin, since it has such high system requirements, and especially when Wii/WiiU support is feasible with homebrew.

I remember actually bringing this up when the whole Devolution craze started.
One of the points I made towards disabling the DRM crap was mods and hacks for the actual games.
You cannot modifiy a hacked game, and your work goes to show that indeed my point was a valid one for locking off people who didn't own the original disc or even worse an original Wii which could read such things.

I don't mean to sound stupid but I don't understand what you just wrote.

You do know what Devolution is, right?
If you do, then you know what I'm talking about.

You cannot played modified games/hacks of Gamecube games with Devolution at all, because you won't be able to play the actual patched Gamecube disc/iso with it due to the differences in hash/checksums

I know what Devolutions is but you say your against the DRM stuff yet you say "You cannot modifiy a hacked game, and your work goes to show that indeed my point was a valid one for locking off people who didn't own the original disc or even worse an original Wii which could read such things." which make me believe you support the DRM stuff.

Oh yeah sorry, it came off oddly enough.

What I meant was that I didn't like the DRM in Devo because it locked you out of playing hacked games.
You were only capable of playing the original, unmodified game.
If you do any modification to the original game you wouldn't be able to play it anymore using Devo even if you have the disc at hand.
A quick example is the Megaman Collection hack which swaps buttons A and B, if you patch the ISO with that hack, you cannot play it in Devo anymore.

That's what I meant :P

Disregard any person that needs to derail a thread with cliché phrases about overpriced/overvalued Apple computers. Those "holy wars" are always stupid and add nothing productive, everyone is entitled to the computer and OS that feels more comfortable to the user. So, to each his own.

It's being quietly worked on, we are just being patient for the moment. It will surely make Nintendont perfect.

I can't wait for the BBA emulation. I only have 1 working rl BBA and it would be cool to have wii us to do the job in its place

Now, I don't really know all that much about what's possible or not when it comes to apps like this.

I know that Emulators such as Snes9xGX and FCEUGX have options to increase resolution to make games look better. Stuff like 2x and even '2xSal' scaling and such. Much like the PC Versions of the Emulators.

I understand that Nintendont isn't an Emulator, but it does have setting options when you load it up like 'Force Widescreen' and 'Force Progressive Scan'.

So my question is, will Nintendont ever support higher resolution scaling? I'm playing The Simpsons Hit and Run and when I play it using Dolphin with the resolution upgraded even as much as 1.5x higher they look 100 times better! Nintendont playing at native resolution just looks awful, like many gamecube games do when run through the WiiU :(

Below is a comparison shown between Native resolution vs 2x scale. You can see
the difference clearly, especially on the Window Frames to the left, Homers 'M' Hair and even the exclamation mark above marges head!

Thanks guys

Hey there!
I follow your Youtube channel, I like your Glitch picnics :)

As for you question, I think since Nintendont uses real hardware to run, it doesn't rely on emulation which is what the 2x resolution relies on.
Although, @FIX94 might be the one to ask to personally since he might give you the exact details on that.

Thank you! It's so weird when people who watch my content find me in other places than YouTube hahaha

I appreciate that response and that's just what I thought would be the case. It's a shame, because my PC will play the game at 1.5x and 2x almost perfectly, but when using fraps to record the framerate drops a lot in some places so it's not worth recording. Always looking for the best quality footage :(

Looks like I'll be saving up for a new PC for the future then! Thanks anyways :)

You're welcome!
Hope you find a way to record which doesn't kill performance :P
