Gaming Nintendogs training problem

hi !
i wanna teach my dog to Shake hand, but whenever she sits and i grab her hand and i shake it and then press the light bulb and say "shake" she doesnt memorize it, even if i do it 10 times.
i did the same thing for "sit down" and worked.
2- is there any objective in this game? what should i have to do to get more pets and stuff? when it will let me go to contents
3- where does my character (the trainer) gets money from? just contests?
