Hello,
I encountered this thing because I wanted to restrict my nintendo switch from accessing my home network.

Few day ago I put the switch's MAC address in the ban list on the configurations of my router. And it worked, that device couldn`t access de network. But it still tried to connect (it still had the wi-fi password). So, some hours came by and later that switch got internet access through my network. I presume it bypassed the ban list, however, now I can't access my router settings again because my IPS blocked me, then I'm not sure any more what could cause the switch successful connection despite my efforts to restrict it.

Does anyone have any idea of what could've help my switch to connect? Has the nintendo switch have some way of violate the ban? Or my router is just trash?

Hi,

I think you might be confusing router and modem.
If you are using your own router than in short this is all just in your LAN (Local Area Network)
If for any reason you did something there to ban the system by Mac adress you SHOULD be able to fix that rather simply by accesing the device and reverting the filter / ban.

But if you DID some setup in your ISP's modem ... that CAN mean it was for the WAN (Wide Area Network).
(it's hard to tell from your info).

If you can not access the modem anymore ... a type / brand might be helpful in getting you back in.
But no guarantees as some ISPs dont' even allow access to the modem config.
Also have you tried getting in touch with them?

And as well have you tried accessing the modem / router from a desktop / laptop connection to revert your actions?

Hi, thanks for your response.
I did change my ISP's modem configurations, I don't have a LAN. But I want to keep it banned. So I think I'll give my ISP a call.
And the strange thing is that the nintendo switch ignored de ban list and it connect to de WAN.
Also, I used to access it by DNS IP.
