When Nintendo announced the now-official $80 price cut for its 3DS handheld, an accompanying Ambassador Program promised to reward early adopters -- which is to say, those who spent the original $250 on the device -- with 20 free downloadable games. The deadline was originally set for August 11, the day before the new price went into effect, but Nintendo is offering those who missed out a second chance.

The confirmation comes from Nintendo Australia, which told GameSpot that those who didn't register in time will soon be able to download, fill out and mail in a PDF form on the official website. The deadline for the PDF mailing is September 30, though it should be noted that there's no indication yet that this offer is available outside of Australia. Also note that you'll need proof of purchase dated earlier than August 12.

Nintendo is launching a web search sometime this week that will let people type in their device's serial number to make sure it's been correctly registered for the program.
