Hacking Nintendo DS silicon casing (The really old model)

So yeah, not really sure if it goes under the hardware, devices and utilities board, but don't really where else to put it. Any help? Any guys here still have their old Nintendo XL's/phat?
Anyway I can just DIY the thing?

I have an XL, but it's nowhere near old. In fact, I bought it brand new in March.

Wait, your post confuses me. Are you talking about a DS Phat or a DSi XL?
Also, I have no idea what you're asking for. You don't say anything about what you're asking for in the thread.
