I've tried like 3 times so far to get the Wii to update to 4.2 using Waninkoko's installer.

However, every time, it stops downloading. It just stays at the current download part and I have to hard reboot the wii.

Is this just me? Should I keep trying or wait for a later time?

i think they just released a new system update or something, so yeah, they are probably under heavy traffic.

Yes, I would guess they are. My wii shop is really slow. I got the update to work but it was slower than normal.

Well I just updated ten minutes ago and it worked?? Try again.. Ohh and once you update you get an upside down homebrew channel XD..

Yes my HBC is upside down.... try to install a WAD, i can't anymore i get a ret 1

Why are people updating now? There is not a game yet that requires 4.2 is it simply access to the WiiShop channel that people are updating?

Use DOP-IOSv8 and install IOS61 with *no* trucha patch. Should get you back to normal.

Well I know that might be a shock here, but some of us actually do buy games.

People have been using WiiSCU to update the shop channel independently of the System Menu. I've done it too and it works for me.
I only have 100 Wii points left right now however.

Even if you're not a pirate, paying for ROMs is just stupid. As for WiiWare, there's nothing even worth pirating, so paying for it is insane.
