3DS apps shown
Finally we know what the home button on the Nintendo 3DS does.
The 3DS video reel above confirms multitasking is included in the new handheld. The video shows a woman playing a game and then pressing the home button to be booted back the the 3DS's operating system instantly. She then launches the web browser on the system, browses a few games, and then returns to where she left off in her game.
The feature is sure to be handy as you will be able to switch between a lot of features on the 3DS with ease. Another built-in app on the system appears to be a pedometer of sorts. Screens show an application with graphs of presumably distance traveled next to the time of day. The app would work with the help of the inbuilt accelerometer and gyro when the 3DS is running in sleep mode.
The 3DS will release in Japan on February 26, 2011 and worldwide sometime in March. The system will come with a 2GB SD card as well as a charging cradle.
