yo everyone the number one grim heaper here, and i have to agree with some of what is said. in regards to the exploit, if neimod has indeed hacked the 3ds. then said time and time again, he has no intentions of releasing it. it is poking the bear, you shouldn't drop a bomb shell like he did. and then expect people not to want it released, what was the point in letting the world know then? in my honest opinion that is a dream crusher, nothing more nothing less.

You think that because you totally misunderstand what's going on.

What he has is not anywhere near release. It is not a user-usable softmod.

Okay, lol, Im going to have to side with Rydian here, You have really HAVE misunderstood whats going on. Firstly, people were going to know that the 3DS was hacked if information like what has been posted in the first place on 3DBrew. Secondly, you wouldnt be able to use the exploit at all. You would need to know full on ARM assembly to use this exploit, and you would be looking for ways to implement functions that haven't been documented right now if you had the exploit.

Where has the patience gone in this world.

My favorite quote from Overclock.net:

Patience went out the window a week after the 3DS came out because so many people were spoiled by the constant PSP and DS hackings. Especially because usually you would have updates broken within hours or days. The idea of a system actually implementing security and having complex encryption doesn't even cross the mind of the average ROM beggar.

patience went out the window, when people heard that people had hacked the 3ds. after waiting for 2 years i really, doubt anyone would want to wait another year or two.

Whether they want to or not, reality is if it ever DOES happen, rom loading on 3DS will take at least another year.

what is your basis for that? what system has ever taken a year for a rom loader AFTER being publicly hacked?

Secondly, you wouldnt be able to use the exploit at all. You would need to know full on ARM assembly to use this exploit, and you would be looking for ways to implement functions that haven't been documented right now if you had the exploit.

that being said, the exploit has already been patched in the latest kernel, so there isn't too much incentive to holding it back at this point, as patching is no longer a concern. getting it out in the wild would give more hackers the ability to chip in and contribute. even if the current exploit isn't useful to the general public, releasing it would likely expedite the process of getting something that is.

The PSP Go. It has user-mode homebrew via HBL for a long time, but user-mode can't do ISO loading, so it wasn't until PRO that ISO loading came to the Go.

TN/LME were 6.x first, but they were cIPL to start, meaning nothing after mid-2K model-wise.

Oh, im sorry, but its just that it bothers me that people on this forum are talking all this crap about releasing the NOAWS!!! ADBVFSJH I honestly understand that a lot of people don't know that the 3DS actually has VERY well implemented security features in it, but with some simple research, people should know better, especially if they are a part of this forum, where it has been seen and explained several times that this hack simply CANNOT be released or used by normal users, 9 year olds running rampid looking for ROMS and ROM loaders, script kiddies, or even some people with CS majors (if they dont have experience with ARM assembly, etc). The fact that the people who are working on the hack and documenting the system are shariung so much just on a common wiki page should be exciting, not a boring waiting time. Use the wiki, and learn from other sources about how the whole system works, and youll have a great time when a exploit is released. Don't be an absolute leach (this statement is not directly just for you, but everyone else, nothing personal man) and rely ENTIRELY on others work, try and learn and UNDERSTAND the information on 3DBrew, try in the near or distant future to be a part of the group of people who create stuff with their skills for others to enjoy, and try giving something to the community. Whether it be on the 3DS, or something else entirely, do something.

Im sorry that the 3DS has decent security protocols and methods of encryption, but it doesn't give an excuse to whine about it, just because you or others are impatient that the people who are working on the exploit for THEIR own enjoyment (and experience) and sharing the as much as they can without either confusing the community too much, or revealing things that could be fixed by Ninty (which is exactly why this exploit WILL probably NEVER be released). I am quite happy that so much technical information is being released about the 3DS, since it will pave the road to future home-brew endeavors.

Even if we cant use the "fruits" of this exploit right now, but we can learn from it now, and we will eventually get out hands on the "final" product. Its only a matter of when, and that's what people need to come to terms with.

Im pretty sure impatient and bratty people were one of the reasons why a "certain" Dev left the Dolphin scene, but I cant say for sure since im not him, and I feel kinda bad for him due to some of the spam he got while creating better HLE on dolphin.

Lol, I went on a long rant, better tone down a bit lol.

reminder: the kernel exploit already has been patched in the latest firmware. this isn't a case of nintendo could fix it, it is a case of nintendo already did fix it.

Another note: Save exploit isnt fixed, and could easily be fixed. Im pretty sure people should understand that too. There is no kernal access right now on newer than 4.5 devices. Save Exploit needs to be kept safe.

I just came from reading Wikipedia just now. The Nintendoo DS came out in November 21, 2004. DS Scene released a review of the first R4 in January 26, 2007, yet had a review of the DS-Xtreme in October 22nd, 2006. That is a span of 1 year + 11 months + 1 day and 2 years + 2 months + 5 days, respectively. Right now, we are 2 years + 2 months + 17 days from the first release of the Nintendoo 3DS. Contrasting the progress made with the Nintendoo DS, all we got is the still 72% Crown 3DS along with 2 exploits, one which was patched yet was going to be secret, anyways. I do not mean to whine; I just want to put the hacking in perspective here. Even so, while I await a ROM Loader, I think this would be a good time to buy the system and eShop downloads.

PS Vita has been hacked for a while now. LOL, not that anybody cares about the Vita.
No it hasn't. (Well, not publicly). There is VHBL which allows running PSP homebrew, and there are a few different "eCFW"s which allow running PSP backups/pirated ISOs, but there is no (public) Vita mode hack. YifanLu has an unreleased hack, but he's not releasing it until there's more interest in actually doing something with it or something like that (a bit like how it is with the WiiU right now).

I dont know about the portable 3DS hack just yet but I am sure that DeSmuMe team will work on 3DS emulator according to this:

I can understand why the PS3/PS Vita and Xbox 360 haven't been emulated yet, but it seems that the 3DS might be easier than we thought to emulate. The author of DeSmuME said on the forums he thinks he will focus on 3DS emulation for after 1.0, but he says he thinks he can do it before anyone else can, as well as do it faster. He must know something I don't!

We shall wait and see. :)

We already saw that, and noted that nowhere did the author actually say that.
