Really ? (SUSPICIOUS) Some people would try out 3DS games to see if they are worth buying but never did. They are doing it for free and wont buy the games to save the money. Some people do that.

It's possible for someone to be working on an emulator, games are irrelevant... the person would just need the 3DS SDK at the very least. Infact it probably even includes the dev emulator (which will not run retail games).

The hardware is very different so i wouldn't expect anything for years. It's not like Gamecube -> Wii for example.

There are 3 roms dumbed for the 3DS and no one seems to be in a hurry to make an emulator, you are better off just borrowing a 3DS from a friend if you want to test it out

If you really want to test out the games and the system to the fullest, using a friend's system is a better option. But you are right you can go to a store and use the display model there

Display models are really an American thing, we don;'t really get that in the UK. I remember walking into SEARS and playing with the Virtual boy one year and the SNES and the N64, played the N64 for hours in SEARS. In the UK retailers usually don;t have display models it;s a shame. but i guess if you want to test out a game you could also try out Blockbusters or "Love Film", Love film is our equivalent of Net Flix

I've seen playable 3DS displays in Game and Game Station here in the UK. I played SF on one for a good 20 minutes in the GS at Meadowhall (Sheffield) before I bought one. Most Game stores have at least 1 playable display console, the one I visited yesterday had an XBox 360.

It's hex not binary (Hence numbers not 0 and 1), also ascii is in the right column. Also you're right, it doesn't prove anything.

Shouldn't this topic be locked by now anyways? Nothing more constructive can really come out of it.

1. It's a binary file (not hex/ascii) because it's not text... (a file is either binary or text)
2. I don't want to prove it to you..because my intention wasn't to make a bug fuss about it..
It doesn't make a big difference if it does or doesn't
3. I also think this thread should be locked.
Emulation will be available on 2013 (my prediction)...

Maybe the early SDKs came with a rough "emulator" to test code on, but it would be unnecessary for the release model SDKs. It's already been confirmed that SDKs come with development units... That is units that can be hooked up to computers or use debug flash kits for testing code.

Several have even turned up on ebay, though they are generally incomplete (only coming with the base unit, no way to connect to a PC, the flash carts, or any of the associated software... making them useless to anyone but a collector)

As for it helping create an emulator... possibly yes... and possibly no. Modern games are written in very high level languages (C/C++ for example) which is what the SDKs will be based off of. There probably won't be a lot of ways to access the low level functions through them, they kind you'd need to be able to analyze to create an emulator from. While it's true you could take the SDKs, compile the examples, then decompile them to ARM ASM and try and work backwards from that but it would be INCREDIBLY time consuming and overly complex, especially since we still have no real idea about the hardware specifics of the system (other than the ram chip and that the main CPU is a custom ARM11 variant of unknown speed with an integrated PICA200 chip of unknown speed and memory)

Personally I feel a 3DS emulator is pointless for gaming because there will be no 3D. And if you want to develop homebrew with 3D, you can't test it with an emulator. You have to use a flash cart.

And what's that based on?

History & Science, DSi released @ 2008/09 and Common key found @ Jan'11 (About two years after..)

3DS has a stronger encryption.. AES-CTR (it might not matter)

Unless you have a quick way to hack the AES algorithm it might be sooner!!

Not really. The DSi common-key has been found years ago by Team Twiizers, but has not been disclosed to the public because it's of no use. The DSi common-key is not that usefull because the dsi use Modcrypt for most armcode as well.
