Thanks, that is very kind of you to offer the help. I have decided that I will just suck it up and play with a PDF as it was meant to be though. From people who I have spoken with they told me that it actually becomes kind of fun using the Magic book after you get used to it. I will probably just put a PDF on my phone and leave it unlocked and open when I play so I can easily browse.
i would definitely agree that the magic master is fun to use after getting accustomed to it. ive read all the way through it i think twice now, just on its own. its creative and beautifully put together; one of the best parts of the game if you ask me. i hope you enjoy! ni no kuni is one of my favorite games to this day

If anyone is still playing, I'm putting together an edit of the translation and would love some help finding text issues such as:
[...]
How much progress did you make with this project, if any? Do you have a database of errors found or altered?

It's coming along, slowly but (mostly) surely. I've been running a thread on the Romhacking forums as to not clog up/take over this thread, but in short I think all the crashes are sorted out, and I may have scope creeped a bit by deciding to do several full passes on all the text (story, sidequest, item descripts and effects, Imagen, etc).

I've been looking at your progress thread every now and again. I must say this is truly promising work you're doing. I'm thinking that once you feel "done enough" I'll look into actually making a print of the book. Making it look similar in size and style of the original.

Thanks! It'll be a while till I'll feel done enough with it, but it's definitely a start.
I will note the PDF may not scale well into the proper size, assuming you mean the physical book. The PDF is apparently 3.44 in x 5.09 in / 8.74 cm x 12.93 cm, while my personal copy of the Dominion book is 5 in x 7.375 in / 12.5 cm x 18.7 cm. I assume the physical Japanese and English Wrath of the White Witch books are similar, if not the same size.

I just read this:

This was a very good post. And you should be happy with how it looks. It's great. The offset text when the names are short enough to fit is a FINE trade-off to make.

I just wanted to say that it's good that you try to make the messages in the game have a coherent voice. Too often these details (consistency when viewed as a whole) may get overlooked. But these are one of the most important marks of quality, which often may get overlooked. Good stuff!
