Heh, took me some time too.
First time I got it easily, but struggled the time after.
It is a bit of a confusing layout they have there.

So now that I have nhse downloaded what do I do? Does it need to be extracted I don’t understand how to run it? Sorry total noob

There is a simpler way:

1. go here: https://berichan.github.io/GetNHSE/ and click download
2. extract the zip content
3. on your switch, use JKSV to extract the animal crossing save
4. copy it somewhere to your pc
5. start NHSE.exe from the extracted zip

6. use a simple video guide on how to use NHSE. this is the first video that came up on youtube:

7. after modifying your safe, replace it with the backup you made on your switch
8. open jksv and make ANOTHER backup so you always have a clean one
9. override your system save with the modified one in jksv
