Homebrew NFC reader O3DS?

In other words, i'm not into the technical stuff of the 3ds. by technical, I mean the hardware inside the literal handheld. So I wouldn't have known about the chip til' now.

Seriously? Sorry about that, I was pretty sure I saw a cable coming out of the reader.

Cable that you'd plug in where? The power port? The SD or game slot? There's no way to plug a device into a 3DS like you're thinking, they haven't had such ports on Nintendo handhelds since the GBA. IR or wifi are the only ways to do that on 3DS, and wifi would be overkill for how little data is transfered in Amiibo usage.

BTW, the Circle Pad Pro also uses IR to transmit to the 3DS. Which now that I think about it, might be part of the reason why, despite supporting the New's nipple stick, Smash Bros doesn't support the CPP. I know they say Smash pushes the 3DS too hard for CPP's overhead to work, but they also make a lot more selling Amiibos than CPP's, so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't try to hard to get CPP working, knowing they'd need to keep the IR sensor free for the Amiibo reader. Just wild conjecture on my part, no proof of any kind.

You can, however, get an NFC reader and store the data of the characters on it, convert them to QR code (simple using online tools) and patch them into the memory using the browser exploit. How? Ask the people who did Pokemon QR, it needs work.

I can't look at the blueprints to the N3ds and determine what causes Amiibo functionality. It was a question, and I get the answer is "No". I thought it was screen scanned, since you place the Amiibo on the bottom screen. (N3ds)

For what I know, the power port of the 3DS could have a unsed data line. I mean, you could mod a PSP battery to get access to dev feature... I honestly don't know everything about the console, and didn't do any research on it since a couple of months ago. So sorry I made a mistake about the connectivity of the console.
