Hi everyone!

I recently bought a used Wii U from a friend of mine and I'm looking to get fancy with loaders and whatnot. :3

I already use loadiine and the homebrew channel with some success, but what I REALLY want to do is use the USB loader (especially since I want to play Bayonetta 2 and the game still stutters a lot... plus my SD card's tiny). However, I read that installing games not from the same region as the Wii U can brick the console... so I have a few questions.

1) Is there still a risk of bricking if the game is installed to an external USB drive instead of internal memory?
2) Can I use a CFW like mocha to prevent a brick?
3) Is there a way to convert saves from one region to another?
4) How does it work with DLC and updates?

I tried to set up a rednand, but unfortunately I couldn't get the rest of the SD card to format after that. I tried guiformat, Paragon, Minitools Partition Wizard, Panasonic's SD formatter, all were no go.

the nasty myth of out of region bricking rears its ugly head again lol. So to confirm there is zero risk of a brick for installing out of region games.

1. Zero risk of a brick installing to USB. Why on earth would it brick the wiiu if all the files are on the USB nothing on the system has been altered

2. See above

3. Not sure but saveiine should work for that

4. Dlc and updates work perfectly with Mocha or haxchi

Plus don't use rednand it's old and is only really of use to devs

Fantastic. I realized there was a good chance much of that info was out of date, but I wouldn't know if I didn't ask, you understand.

Is there a way to setup coldboot/haxchi without buying an original DS game?

Nope doing that will brick the wiiu you need to buy a legit copy from the eshop no way around that. If you can't or don't want to buy it use mocha instead it takes a bit longer to load compared to haxchi but it gets the job done for free lol.

Eh, only reason I even wanted to setup Haxchi was for coldboot. You can't do it with mocha, right?

Ugh. Getting a headache trying to get the USB method to work. >.<

The Wii U USB Helper isn't working. It tries to update the application, and then nothing happens. If I try to open the actual application (i.e. not the updater the desktop icon links to), it opens the updater and nothing happens.

You sure your AV didn't kill anything?
In my case, Windows Defender kept removing it, take a look in your antivirus.

I think it may have been an outdated version or something. Looked for the official site, downloaded it, good to go.

Missing Bayonetta 2 in the catalog for some reason, so I'm downloading the USB-ready version now. Just not sure how exactly the install process goes for that. I mean, where do I put the game itself after I'm done with WUP?

SDCard://install/<game folder>
You can use automatic "Copy to SD" feature in Wii U USB Helper to automate it.

Oh, I see what was wrong now. The USB-ready version of the game was pretty much the whole game. Transferred perfectly! <3

Hmmmm. Now I just need to find a EU uncensored/undub USB-ready of Xenoblade Chronicles X so I can stop using CEMU and I'm golden.
