Hi, I got a launch 3DS running on firmware 6 and I have just recently discovered the homebrew & freeshop stuffs. Before I install cfw, and I suppose to call nintendo and ask them to unlink my account to avoid getting banned even though I have done factory reset on it.

If you have done a factory reset, you don't have an nnid. Just follow 3ds.guide and you will be fine.

I had my nnid on it before, I remembered people were telling me in order to fully unlink my account I have to call nintendo and ask them to unlink the system if I ever trade in or give away the system. Factory reset won't be enough because they still have record of my previously owned systems attached to my account. Is that true?

I believe you only have to ask nintendo to unlink your account if you want to access the nnid in the future/used tinyformat to format your 3ds.

Homebrew huh? My system is still clean so do I install cfw then use tinyformat to clean up everything. Or can tinyformat be installed without cfw? Sorry I literally just started looking at the scene stuffs.

Don't mess with tiny format at all. Just go to 3ds.guide and follow everything to the t. You'll be fine.

Reading that up a bit, it ask you to pick a model + fw ver. But it looks like you never have to upgrade or downgrade the fw? Also I just picked up a 64gb sd card, I can format it directly by using stock 3ds right?

It's easier if you update to latest (11.2) because there isn't a browserhax for 6.x.

Didn't nintendo plugged the holes with the latest firmware? So I should upgrade my fw before I do any hacking.

No nintendo hasn't plugged the holes, the latest fw 11.2 is completely exploitable.

If you are gonna update then do it now, while 11.2 is still the latest and nintendo didnt push an update to fix soundhax

Hi again, the 3ds guide suggested a tool to format the sd card, is there any reason that I can't just use the 3ds to format my sd card?

Just follow exactly what 3ds.guide tells you, it's compiled to be the safest and quickest method you are ever going to get.

Also I wasn't aware the 3DS it's self is able to format SD cards and even Nintendo themselves officially endorse using the SD Card Formatter tool by the SD Association to format any SD cards for use with the 3DS system.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

So that version is semi rare
