ParseMii 1.0 by Team SoftMii

Ok folks, once again from the guys that just take other peoples work and write guides to it...

We bring you ParseMii 1.0 A tool to make it easy to replace .ash modules from one .app theme file to another.
This allows you to combine pieces from two different themes resulting in a new one which is a combination of the two.

The utilites included in this package are:

U8Tool 10.1 by Howard C
ParseU8 by Sorry, couldn't find the Author and WiiBrew is down. Will Amend later
AshReplace by IceFire, thanks for your help on this one dude.
ParseMii.bat by Jizmo and MonkeyJam (thanks Hossman for the U8Tool 10.1 info and testing)

So here's what it does...........

ParseMii allows you to copy the ASH files from one 0000004x.app file to another. This lets you easily accomplish
the task of changing cursors, health screens, channel layouts etc.. between themes and essentially lets you build
you own theme out of parts of others.

All you have to do is extract the ParseMii folder to the location of your choice on your Windows PC.

Then.....

1. Copy (not move) the .app file you want to copy ASH files FROM into the ParseMii "source" folder
2. Copy (not move) the .app file you want to copy the ASH files TO into the "dest" folder

Now run the SoftMii.bat batch file

After the .app files are parsed you will be presented with the ASH Replace Box
One at a time, select the ash module youd like to inject into your destination .app and press replace
Repeat the process till you've replaced all the modules you want
Close the ASH Replacer box to continue
ParseMii will now Build Your new 0000004x.app Theme file from the dest folder using U8Tool and place it in the ParseMii folder
as 0000004x.appOUT
The source and dest folders are then purged

You can now rename and install this .app file with the SoftMii Tweak Tool.

Example: You can copy the chansel.ash from a borderless channel theme to the matrix theme to have a borderless matrix theme.

BTW... I named it ParseMii just to piss people off with the "ii" crap.

Enjoy....
Jizmo

As always... we can be found on IRC in #softmii on EFNET

Perfect!

Tested straight on my Laptop and it works!!!!!
Later testing the 00000045.appOut on the Wii

Big THX

BTW, this tool makes converting a theme from NTSC to PAL and visa versa very easy by just putting the desired region .app in the "dest" folder.
Then typically copy the board.ash chansel.ash cursors.ash and health.ash from the NTSC source .app file.
The .appOUT file will match the region of the "dest" file.

Also U8Tool 10.1 seems to pack a little tighter so we've been getting slightly smaller output files with this version.

And whow... A noobies first post was a success and our first comfirmed end user run. That's gotta be a good sign.

EDIT: WTF, he joined Nov 08 and this was first post? I guess Noob might not be appropriate. How about mute.

This is awesome if some parts of your design are messed up but others like cursor does work, you don't need to re do over all the steps, normal.

Thank you thank you thank you!

I'm having a problem using this. After i close the ash replace box i get an error from the u8tool. it says "Component 'FM20.DLL' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." Anyone know how i can resolve this? Thanks.

I've never seen that message. My suggestion is to google FM20.DLL and find what it belongs to. My guess is it probably a .net framrwork conponent or something like that.

A quick look by my turned up this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/214757

So im guessing that you might need Visual Basic 6 Runtime librarys installed.

I haven't looked at your program so I don't know what the differences are. But since our script is a batch file it can easily be built upon. Ill try to load your program up this evening and see what approach you've taken.

Have just installed this on my com & used Playboy all black & just replaced the health screen with TwoSM Apple CSM, installed it on my Wii & all looks great, thanks

Ummm...why didn't you ask me before releasing? Or at least say it was by "Team Softmii and icefire" or something? Not that I care much, but it is kinda nice....

Sorry Icefire, I might have been able to say it a little better. I should have at least boldened it.

Sorry to say Hossman replaced that part of the code today with some visual basic code.

Moderator Please close this thread as we are updating the Tool

Doesn't matter, that was just two minutes of work

.

And the batch file was another 10 minutes. Decent results for the length of an Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode. Of course that's not counting the 2 hours to figure out we were trying to use the u8tool comman line syntax with older version of u8tool and it had changed. Once hossman replace 9.6 or whatever with 10.1 the original script worked. Ah well. Live and learn.

No, this is just to copy things int another .app, you can't create the themes by yourself.

Ummm the link to download doesn't work. Does any have the link to download this?
