Got my new 2DS yesterday at Target, picked up a Pokemon X bundle on sale for $99 bucks. Opened it up at the train station yesterday to find out there was two fingerprints one on the top screen to the right and one on the bottom screen to the left.

Other than that it appeared to be new at all the stuff in rapping and everything has this ever happened to anyone else?

Was it a small shop you got it from (I do not know if target is a franchise or what)?

It varies all over as to what you can do but it is often still possible to sell something as new if you have just powered it on to check things (better to figure out it was DOA before you sell it on). Similarly device returns may qualify here.

When I bought my 3DS here in France 2 years ago, I opened it up and I found many pictures of a girl in it.

They sold me an already used 3DS. But they told me that it was a brand new 3DS.

I was so angry : I gave them back the 3DS and I told them to do something about it or they are gonna have some problems. They gave me a free 3DS game, and a brand new 3DS :)

TL;DR: You should go back to the shop where you bought it.

I thought this was an article about upcoming consoles having fingerprint scanners on them lol

But anyway that is not normal so either the box was opened and not new. If everything is fine inside though with paper work, charger, digital copy of game, and booklets I wouldn't worry about it. You can easily just wipe them off

maybe the store guy opened that package to show to another client?

once i wanted to check a firmware of a 3ds and asked the store employer, he did get a package from the stock and even configured the console with random stuff just for check the firmware

I bought it from Target not a small mom and pop store so yes Target is a big franchise. The pull tab on the box seen in the attached picture did not have a piece of tape over it, but was pushed inside the box to show it was closed. When I turned the system on everything appeared as normal asked for set up and all that jazz.

the boxes don't often have tape on them anymore, and it's possible someone at the factory left the fingerprints. i got two brand new video games on discs still in shrink wrap with fingerprints on them before.
if they come clean easily enough just forget about it, otherwise target should take it back and let you trade for another one.

Factory shrink wrap or otherwise? A machine to do it is not much, not to mention quite useful for shops, and game shops do (did?) allow their staff to take games for a while before reselling the title as new, indeed it is how a lot of early dumps happened over the years.

whoot, is nintendo so cheap to don't provide tape or nintendo seal anymore?

heres my life story you didn't asked about:

my first 3dsxl the store had displayed the boxes empty, i asked for a new unopened good condition box, they didn't care\pretend to dont listen\did on purpose and gived me the displayed box, the 3ds and other stuff was in a bag closed with tape, the dude opened the back and putted the stuff inside the box...

heres the revelant part:

lucky they messed up later with the warranty, and i get a refund and bought a zelda 3dsxl from other store, this time it had stickers (tape) on the sides i could see it was really closed.

factory sealed, one of them was halo 2 with the orange sticker over the factory seal and everything the fingerprint is still there cause i never touch the undersides of my discs.

the last 3ds i purchased that had a seal was the pikachu one, since then i have gotten the zelda one, the silver mario one, and the yoshi one none of which had seals and i got them straight out of the sealed box from nintendo so i know they hadn't been touched.

Are you being for real, cause that's hard to believe, DK is Nintendo and made in japan, Sea of thieves was from Microsoft, in America. I'm not calling you a liar, just didn't know.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ok yes they were both made by Rare, but DK was from Rare back then, Rare now is owned by MS. So makes since.
