Hello. I'm looking to get an additional Nintendo Switch in the next few months, and I want to know if this is a safe venture. I haven't found specific answers to these exact questions on this forum., so I'm asking them here. My current Switch is from launch and is very homebrewed/cfw'd. From what I can tell, I'm not going to be able to EmuNAND up and go legit on that for the games I want to play online. My question is: what practices are best for getting a new Switch and keeping it legit and unbanned? I plan on creating a brand new Nintendo account for this Switch and buying games from scratch. I have an old 128GB card I previously used for my hacked Switch that I was going to format to FAT32 with 32KB clusters. Is that okay? Would I be able to safely use Local Wireless with my hacked Switch or is that a no-go? My computer and IP address might visit some non Nintendo-Friendly websites and I may allegedly have a collection of NSPs on my computer. Would any of this affect my legit Switch?

If you're going to use it 100% legit you have 0 risk, you can play wirelessly with your hacked Switch with no problems.

If you buy a new Switch and don't put CFW on it then it will not get banned. You will need a clean SD card in case Ninty notices anything to do with the CFW on it. As far as I know you will be able to safely communicate in local mode between your clean console and your hacked one. I play Animal Crossing with both clean and hacked and constantly 'travel' between both with no problems

That's one of my questions. Is formatting it considered "clean?" I would guess so, But if not I could get by without one for a little while at least.

It's been a day and this info is important, so I'm going to specify my question. Formatting a microSD card should make it a "clean" card, should it not? I can't imagine what else I could even do. The card in question did not have multiple partitions on it and I will have to use a special utility to format the 128GB into FAT32 with 32KB cluster size since that's not a standard option in most operating systems.

All you do is format your card and you are done. No need to do anything else for your new switch as long as you don't modify it you will be good. For the local play on your switch I would advise not to do it you may never know.
I personally have a modded switch and a switch lite. I do want to point out my modded switch is blocked from the Nintendo server .

IDK if you original switch has been banned or not if not banned you can just dualboot to save you $$$
