I'm interested in buying this title, but as I have a modchip installed I'm curious if there's firmware with the game which could damage my wii? If so, is it possible to decline this update or is it mandatory?

FYI, I have a "D2Ckey modchip" installed, and the firmware on my wii has not been updated since the relase of "Mario Galaxy" IIRC

if you havent updated since MG, then yes - there will most likely be an update.

whether this will brick your wii or not - i cannot say

Great, so I take it you're running the real update and not some hacked version. Further, am I right in assuming that the update in no way affects the performance of the chip?
