Hi Guys,

I currently have a 128 gb card with SX OS PRO 2.4.1 installed. I also installed Emunand (partitioned on SD CARD I believe). I decided to buy a 256gb card and now I'm wondering what's the process to start using this new SD CARD instead of the 128 gb, I know the license transfers fine, but what about the Emunand? I assume I have to create a new Emunand partition on this new card, or should I just copy everything from the 128 to the new 256 card?

Thanks a lot!

Did you do the emunand as a partition or just a file?
If file just copy and paste. If not I suggest you recreate the emunand

If I recreate the Emunand, will it do a backup of my original firmware instead of the updated partition?

If you recreate it it will be a copy of your current nand

So let me see if I understood correctly. My switch came with firmware version 3.0.1. I created an emunand partition and updated using choirdujourNX to version 6.2. If I plop in the new sd card, it’ll create a new NAND off my 3.0.1 or 6.2 FW?

What is your ofw version? That's what emunand will use as it can't see the old as card to make a copy of that.
If you emunanded your base should be 3.0.1 and update the emunand to 6.2

The original was on 3.0.1

You do know a system update doesn't leave stuff to be able to go back so an emunand won't be able to do 3.0.1 if your system isn't on it right now.
It takes a backup of what you currently have

Was, or is?

Sorry I’m a total newbie. My nand backup was done 3.0.1. If I don’t use SX OS to boot it loads that firmware. If I load the custom firmware it loads 6.2. My NAND backup is 3.0.1 and the emunand backup was also done in 3.0.1 prior to updating it to 6.2

I'm attempting this now, moving hidden emunand from a 64gb card to a 128gb card, will let you know the results. I should note that I already moved this emunand once, from the regular partition to the hidden partition, I left a brief tutorial in the proper section here.

EDIT**

This is what I'm trying, insert new SD card, format to FAT32. Restore my complete nand backup using DD from terminal in macos. Format remaining partition space to FAT32 and test. I'll report back.

Already hit a snag, going to have to create the hidden partition using SX OS, doing that now. Once it's created, I'll take a backup of the first 1024 bytes of the SD, then concatenate that with boot0/1 and rawnand, then DD that, that will work, as it's what I did when moving from 2.3-2.4.

Man, I hope I can easily restore my nand and start over.

EDIT: Actually I just did a test. Took out my sd card and the switch booted to 3.0.1. IF I insert a clear card I should be able to create a new emunand partition and use ChoirdujurNX like I did on the old one.

Last edited by AirbusX,
I was able to restore my emunand fine after backing the mbr (first 1024 bytes) from the new SD card (after letting SX OS 2.5b create a hidden emunand). I then took those 1024 bytes and concatenated them onto the boot 0/1 and rawnand, used dd to write it, and it restore no problem.

Yeah no problem with doing that, just backup anything you have saved to nand and reinstall/restore. The way I do it any changes I have made to emunand remain there, so I don't have to update again or restore any data.
