Gaming New pokemon question

Okay, so theres like, new pokemonz right? But like there's only one? so what is this game? is it a real legit new pokemon with new (well as new as pokemon will ever get) story lines and different places..... or is it just diamond/pearl re-released kinda like the plat playstation games? and why is there only 1 if its a new game =/

You must be new to pokemon if your just now realizing that the 3rd game in each generation is barly different from the previous 2.....

No new pokemon(i assume)
Remake of the Johto(w/e its called(i think thats the region)
New Events(Arceus+Pichu so far)
