hello I a while back got a switch from my local rental store and it was when the hacking scene was pretty new i was successfuly able to rcm the switch but due to not making perfect paperclips i damaged the right rail and it no longer charged or acknowledged the joycon being put on or off the switch so i returned the unit and terminated my contract. my concern is if i purchase the nx payload dumper " the white unit" will the jig that comes with it over time have the same affect on the unit as the paperclip and bend the internal pins too much? I am due to recieve a new switch monday and have faith that because its a rental store it will still have old stock. they are new units but you pay more in the end. its worth it to me if i get the right switch and can do it right with out a paperclip. my other question is the switch i recieved last time came on a low firmware of like 4. somethin and i updated it cause it was safe at the time. i know right now if i update to 6.0.2 it will ruin the homebrew so can i use the latest payloads on such an old firmware wiythout issue or do i need to find a way to update to like 5.0 or such.... I am very eager to do this and i will also check the sn using your guide b4 i attempt anything. i also have the nx injecector ordered on aliexpress but not payed for yet as i wat to be sure i can even do it. and also that there jig wont were down my switch over time...

The jig is probably the safest way to enter RCM, it shouldn't damage the rail AT ALL. And if by white unit you mean the NS Atmosphere dongle yeah that should be fine. As for firmware, you should at least update to 5.1 and keep it at that for the time being

i am trying to read about updating... is there a link here that explaind how to update to old firmware that isnt current like 5.1? and is it complicated? also whats the method for setting up a new switch and also blocking online so it doesnt automaticly grab the updated firmware and then force me to install it.

I enabled autorcm after the first time using my jig to start rcm mode and I've never had to use the jig a second time. I'm on fw 6.0.1 and everything works fine. Been doing this since mid July.
