There's new bundles for the DSi. But I found something peculiar about the Brain Age White DSi bundle.

If you look closely at the small text above the image of the DSi, you'll notice it says this:
"New Color! White"
But the White color is already available everywhere (and has been for a while now). Is it actually a new color (as in: a new shade of white or something)?

And FYI, that bundle is here in Canada. And it has that small text. And the white DSi has been available since August/September.

It still says it's new because the color still is new. It's only been around for a couple months or so, IIRC. Games from a couple of months ago are still regarded as "new." At least to Nintendo anyway... (ie, not everyone keeps up with Nintendo, so the White DSis are going to say that for a little while longer).

Well, when the DSi came out in the US, it was only in blue or black, so white is obviously a new color. It might not be THAT new, if it's been out a while, but it's newer than the other colors.

Well, on Nintendo's products, they usually put "NEW" for only these reasons:
1. It actually is new
2. There's a new revision of hardware (Think GBA SP, AGS-001 and AGS-101)
3. They're just trying to rake in money

Technically, black is the absence of color. Not white.
But if you're talking about paint, then you're partially correct.
When talking about light, black is the absence of all color, and white is the combination of all colors.

When talking about paint colors, white is the absence of all color, and black is the combination of all colors.

But color comes from light. The color in paint only shows up because of light. Therefore black is the absence of all color.

Back on topic: So it's the same white as the one that was released in Japan (and later, everywhere else)? Or is it some sort of new white?

As every concept relies on difference to define it -- regarding either white or black as the absence of color relies on color itself -- therefore, the concept of color is inseparable from this absence , and is, arguably, within the concept of absence itself --

so...

neither black nor white are technically the absence of color -- as either would contain a trace of the presence of color within each concept...

OK, I didn't want to steer this away, but I can't help myself...

There are colours in light and colours in pigment.

Pigment: White is no colour, black is all colours.
Light: White is all light, black is absence of any light.

I don't think you're well educated. Color comes from light.
The color you see from pigments are from light bouncing off of it.
That's why if you turn off the lights, the colors of pigments kinda disappear.

EDIT: Technically, everything has color. Even if it's black.

Mods can close this now, I got my answer.

Only on the interent can a question about the availability of a gaming system's colour, soon become a discussion of artistic knowledge and the contents of light.

I know colour comes from light...

Without trying to make my ego over 9000, I'm very well educated.

Some things produce light, other things reflect light...the pigment rules I mentioned refer to the colours from the reflected light.
