There is onboard audio which is pretty good and will do fine for near enough everything.

If I am not mistaken that ram clocks 667MHz, go 800MHz at the very least (the very fast stuff will likely not confer that great a performance gain for the cost).

I am not convinced about the PSU though, I would up it to 550W (and make it a good one) at least for a high power machine like this.

Graphics. I assume no SLI is happening here (the motherboard will not do it either) but none the less that card will sort you out for some time (most reviews say it overclocks nicely as well).

Same CPU, GPU and RAM I'm going to get

(Well different GPU manufacturer, but same chipset)
I agree with FAST6191. I'm getting a 400W (a good one though, but should have a bit more power), but I'm probably going to upgrade it when i need more power

i can only make one of those changes either get a better PSU or get a higher clocked ram...? which is more important... also getting a better PSU will allow me to over clock higher right?

hows this ram
http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/produc...oducts_id=19912
Corsair DDR2 2GB PC-6400/800 (2xXMS2 1GB)
Price = $147.70

also i scraped the sound card.

...actually i might be able to get the better PSU.... how is this

Case - Cooler Master Centurion 541 Black/Silver Tower Case (No PSU)
http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/produc...oducts_id=26855
Price = $ 85.50

PSU - Hairong 550W ATX Power Supply
http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/produc...oducts_id=18281
Price = $30.80

i am unsure about the Quality of the PSu seeing as it is only $30... will it do?

thanks

It will run with "bad" ram but a dodgy/underpowered PSU will cause you a whole heap of problems.
Edit: Hairong are not held in high regard in the PSU world.

Personally if you are that hard pressed for cash I would scrap the drive and make do with whatever you can beg, borrow or steal (you just need it read DVDs really) and go from there (before buying a drive a month or two down the line).

Right now you may not notice a great deal of difference but come a year from now you could well see effects more distinctly (more memory seems to be the way a lot of things are heading). As for the extra $30 I would probably go and flip a coin (I do not see much else you could make a machine now with but update easily later).

That case-PSU combo should be OK (500W is right on the limit for this sort of thing, I would not overclock too much either (say 3Ghz for the processor, leave the ram and maybe something on the graphics card).

ok thanks for all your help fast6191

so the system will look something like this.. if i were to buy it right now.

Total - $ 1076.2 ($ 1021.2 without assembly)

i am also unsure as to weather i will assemble it my self as i don't have much experience in doing so....

yeah it's worth getting them to assemble it for sure...or someone near your home so you can take it to them if you have any problems and they'll troubleshoot it for you and fix it, saves heaps of headaches.
