Hardware New 3DS or Old 3DS for Homebrew/Hacking?

I have a Zelda New 3DS XL with all my games I use for bought games and stuff, and I have a copy of Cubic Ninja I used to use on my Old 3DS which I sold after I updated the firmware to transfer to my current New 3DS XL. Now I want to buy another cheaper 3DS for homebrew/hacking, should I go for a OG 3DS or New 3DS for this purpose?

Old is more understood at the moment. And there's probably only going to be a handful of games you need a n3ds for. I'd get an old one
