Hacking New 3DS first time boot firmware version

So I'm contemplating on whether or not I should buy a new 3ds to replace my 2ds, but I have a question about the first time boot up of the new 3ds because I also wanting to by a Gateway card as well but I want to know what the firmware is when you first boot ot up without connecting to wifi. But if its beyond 9.2, do you guys think it'd be better to get a Sky3DS card? Thanks ^-^

Haven't you found the "N3DS out of the box Firmware database" thread, yet?

In short, until now N3DSs have been shipped with FW versions reaching from 8.1 to 9.2. You never know if Nintendo already shipped out 9.3 ones, so your best bet is the Japanese SSB Limited Edition.

Yeah basically what Axido said, afaik most (probably all) japanese super smash bros limited edition should have 8.1 (because they are limited, not infinite). to see what it looks like, check my signature. mine came with 8.1J, and it looks damn sexy!
